Description
Volume 7, Issue 11 of The Rattler reports several significant developments for the institution and campus community. The issue announces the appointment of Brother Eugene Paulin as vice-president of St. Mary’s and notes the important milestone of February 19, when the State of Texas granted a charter authorizing the elevation of the college to a university, to be known as St. Mary’s University. Religious observances are highlighted with the beginning of the Lenten season and articles dedicated to devotion to St. Joseph, whose feast day falls on March 19. The paper also includes a reflection on Texas independence. Athletic coverage features basketball results and preparations for the upcoming baseball season as the field is readied. The Rattler Club has suspended its social events for Lent while continuing its organizational work, and additional notes recognize activities and updates from the alumni community.
