This collection features oral histories conducted by students in the Public History graduate program at St. Mary’s University.

Oral histories are recorded conversations that preserve firsthand accounts of personal experiences, capturing voices, perspectives, and stories that may not appear in traditional written records. These interviews aren’t just valuable primary sources; they serve as vital community resources that support cultural preservation, historical memory, and local identity. The current collections focus on two key topics: COPS/Metro Alliance, a long-standing San Antonio community organization known for grassroots civic engagement, and interviews with individuals connected to the St. Mary’s University Music Department. Together, these oral histories provide unique insight into community organizing and the arts starting to weave a bright tapestry of San Antonio and St. Mary’s History. This collection continues to grow through student work that aims to blend academic curiosity and historical preservation.
