The Louis J. Blume Library Oral History Collection documents the history, legacy, and community of the Louis J. Blume Library at St. Mary’s University. In 2000, it was formally named in honor of Rev. Louis J. Blume, S.M., whose vision and leadership helped shape its role in supporting scholarship, research, and student success. In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the library’s naming in October 2025, this collection preserves and shares the voices of those who have contributed to its enduring impact. The collection begins with three oral histories from long-serving employees, each offering personal reflections on their experiences, the library’s evolution, and its role within the university community. This project was created and developed by Victorianna Mejia, a graduate student in St. Mary’s University’s Public History Program, in collaboration with the Blume Library. The collection serves as a place to keep the stories of the people behind the library, and their history shaping it, accessible to future generations.
