Oscar Lazaro shares his experience working as a fellow for the Student Voting Network as well as his observations about voting and democracy. He describes how he started his podcast as well as lessons he has learned from producing it. He also details how he addresses difficult topics with others who may disagree with him.
Biography
Oscar Lazaro is a current undergraduate student attending University of Houston Clear Lake and an active Democracy Fellow with Campus Vote Project. As a Democracy Fellow, Lazaro became engaged with voter encouragement and participation, creating a podcast for the national Student Voting Network focusing on Latinidad identity and experiences of the Latinx representation in civic engagement. Lazaro’s podcast is a project designed to encourage Latinx participation in voting as well as providing an opportunity for students to gain experience in production.
