Description
In this episode, we hear from Chancellor John Pierre of the Law Center at Southern University. Learn from Chancellor John Pierre about how Southern University's Law Center came into existence following desegregation litigation, and the vibrant and diverse student body it currently serves. Chancellor Pierre discusses the Law Center's focus on preparing its graduates for technology in practice and as a tool to increase access to justice, including the incorporation of eBooks and iPads for use by each student. Chancellor Pierre shares the "communiversity" approach of the Law Center, particularly in its clinics that include disaster recovery assistance, and entrepreneurship, and small business advising following a disaster. Chancellor Pierre opines on the future of legal education, and how we need to think more creatively about achieving our goals of increasing diversity of the profession and access to justice, by preparing professionals for more than the single role of a J.D.
