Volume 8, Issue 6 of The Rattler reports on academic events, religious observances, and student activities at St. Mary’s College. Father Robert W. Mayl and Brother Eugene Paulin attended the State Teachers’ Convention in El Paso, while Rev. Dr. Peter Guilday of the Catholic University of America delivered a lecture to students on “The Catholic Church in America.” The high school sophomores presented a Thanksgiving program to the student body, and preparations are underway for the Rattler Club’s annual Christmas Frolic scheduled for December 21. The annual student retreat concluded on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, which is also the subject of a featured article, alongside a piece emphasizing school spirit. Social life included the I.W.C. dance, and a new tradition has been introduced in the high school department in which a college professor delivers a short lecture each Monday evening. Athletic coverage includes posted schedules for basketball, football, and baseball, a summary of the football season, and plans for the annual football banquet.
